Classes in all aspects of Tai-chi training including:
TAI-CHI FORMS - From the slow, flowing "Yang" style (named after Yang, Lu Chan), to the more vigorous "Chen" style to aerobic animal and weapons forms, these series of movements provide exercise, stress reduction, flexibility, improved blood flow, normalized blood pressure and general greater health.
Qigong (Zookinesis Age Reversal Exercises) - These simple exercises improve the flow of energy in the body. They develop greater coordination, strength of concentration, flexibility, improved breathing and stress reduction. They are great fun and can be done in a standing or sitting position.
PUSH HANDS - The heart of Tai-chi training. This is a two person exercise that teaches all the principles of Taoist philosophy. It teaches you to be powerful and effective in life yet gentle and relaxed. You learn how to let go of detrimental patterns of physical and emotional tension and to unite your mind and body. It is an essential training for healing as well as martial arts.
SELF DEFENSE - Tai-chi-Chuan means, "The Grand, Ultimate Martial Art". Rather than meeting force with force by using blocks and tension, Tai-chi-Chuan uses the fluidity of the body to flow out of the way of the opponent's strikes and deliver powerful, internal energy strikes. You learn to use your body and mind with precise, proper body mechanics and to neutralize the opponent's power. Also includes grappling, groundfighting, joint locks and pressure points.
A beginner class in Self Defense Principles is taught Thursdays at 8pm. In this class there is no actual fighting, but rather self defense drills. It is a great form of exercise.
